RobotEra files Hong Kong IPO targeting up to US$1 billion

RobotEra, a Tsinghua University spinoff and one of China’s leading embodied-intelligence companies, is preparing to list on the main board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, targeting a raise of US$800 million to US$1 billion, according to people familiar with the matter cited by Bloomberg. The company has begun working with advisers on the listing, though details remain under discussion. RobotEra has not publicly commented on the report.

The company was founded in August 2023 and incubated by the Institute for Interdisciplinary Information Sciences at Tsinghua. It is the only embodied-AI firm in which Tsinghua holds a direct stake. Its founder, Chen Jianyu, is an associate professor and doctoral supervisor at the institute.

RobotEra’s core strategy is full-stack self-development of both the “embodied brain” and the “humanoid body” as integrated hardware and software. It has built a complete robotics AI-native system spanning core motors, drives, reducers, components and whole machines, with a self-development rate above 95 per cent. Its flagship products include the XHAND series of fully direct-drive dexterous hands, the full-size bipedal humanoid StarL7, and the commercial service robot StarQ5.

For the logistics sector, RobotEra has built a full-stack embodied-intelligence solution that now runs in normal operation across more than ten logistics centres, in partnership with two industry benchmarks, SF Express and China Post.

The capital story is the headline. In 2026 alone, RobotEra has raised close to RMB 5 billion. It closed a RMB 1 billion strategic round in early March, followed by a new round exceeding US$200 million in late April, and secured another RMB 1 billion round in early July. According to business-registry data, the company has completed nine funding rounds since its founding.
