
During the 2026 World Robot Conference, UBTECH (9880.HK) and Basic Semiconductor (9971.HK) signed a strategic cooperation agreement, Gasgoo’s embodied-intelligence desk reported. The two Shenzhen-linked firms will combine UBTECH’s strength in humanoid robots with Basic Semi’s silicon-carbide power-device know-how.
The deal targets three areas. First, jointly develop low-power, long-endurance embodied robots by applying silicon-carbide power devices across power management and motion control. Second, build a demonstration production line where UBTECH humanoids work on Basic Semi’s own silicon-carbide lines to lift manufacturing efficiency and cut cost. Third, accelerate the fusion of “third-generation semiconductors and embodied intelligence.”
Basic Semiconductor is a third-generation semiconductor specialist in silicon-carbide power devices, headquartered in Shenzhen with research and manufacturing sites abroad. It covers the full chain from chip design and wafer fabrication to packaging, testing and driver applications, serving hundreds of customers across industries.
The tie-up is a sign that China’s humanoid-robot makers are pushing energy efficiency as a core selling point, not just raw dexterity, as they chase real factory deployment.
