BridgeDP Robotics raises a nine-figure round to build the ‘operating system’ for robot movement

BridgeDP Robotics, a Shenzhen general-purpose robot operating-system developer, has closed a Pre-A-plus-plus round led by China Mobile’s Chain-Length Fund, with existing backers Fosun Capital and Shenzhen Capital Group following on, Zhidx reported. The round is described as a nine-figure RMB sum.

Founder Shang Yangxing studied at Southern University of Science and Technology in Shenzhen under Zhang Wei, the founder of LimX Dynamics, before dropping out in 2023 to start the company. BridgeDP does not build robots. It builds the software that makes other companies’ robots walk, run and jump.

Its RoboCraft AI platform is pitched as a “motion mall” for robots. Instead of re-solving “how does this machine stand up” for every new body, developers reuse packaged movement skills across brands and form factors. The company says it can compress a job that needs five reinforcement-learning engineers over three months into one software engineer in one week, assuming the hardware behaves.

BridgeDP frames its ambition as a general robot operating system: Motion at the base, Skill in the middle, Task on top. It sees the “ChatGPT moment” for robot brains as a structural shift already under way, not a distant event.

The bet is that as more hardware makers converge, application developers will not learn a separate toolchain for each one. An independent third party, not a robot vendor, is best placed to own that layer.
