China’s dexterous-hand ‘new four’ move from demo to volume

One year ago China’s dexterous-hand field was a pile of demos. Capital was thin, most makers were still validating designs, and annual output sat in the hundreds or low thousands, good for trade shows but not for factories or whole robots. That phase is over.

Money moved first. Full-year dexterous-hand funding reached 16.88 billion yuan in 2025, and the first half of 2026 alone crossed 25 billion, already past the whole of last year. Shipments jumped from just over 20,000 units in 2025 to a 2026 forecast of 70,200. The field has formed a clear first tier, with four makers on distinct tracks.

Four makers, four lanes

Inshi Robotics is the industrial-reliability player, built on self-developed micro servo cylinders and the first domestic five-finger hand to clear 10,000-unit delivery. Its global share exceeds 60 per cent, 2026 delivery is guided at 30,000 to 50,000 units, and overseas already contributed 20 per cent of hand revenue in 2025 across more than 2,000 customers. Its linkage-drive hands reach a million load-bearing grasps and feed full-size humanoids such as Apollo and Adam.

Lingxin Qiaoshou chases the high-degree-of-freedom platform and calls itself the Nvidia of the embodied era. It is rare in covering linkage, tendon and direct-drive routes at once, with a matrix from 11 to 22 degrees of freedom priced from 3,999 to 99,999 yuan, wrapped in cloud-edge software and a skill library.

Hardware plus algorithm, and bionics

Critical Point is the surprise packet, arguably the fastest to a full stack. It turned an operating net profit in its first full quarter of 2026, has shipped more than 20,000 units in total, over 8,000 of its OmniHand hands and more than 10,000 grippers, with external-customer orders above 40 per cent. Its OmniHand 3 Lite is the smallest mass-produced hand for 0.8 to 1.3 metre humanoids, and its DUET architecture runs action planning and contact control together so the hand gets smarter with use.

BrainCo is the only one building both dexterous and prosthetic hands. Its Revo 2 linkage hand is the lightest at 383 grams yet lifts 20 kg, a 52-to-1 ratio, while the Revo 3 direct-drive hand grips at up to 70 newtons with 0.01 newton tactile resolution. Total hand shipments approach 10,000 units.

From specs to a real loop

The four routes spell out a split market: Inshi on industrial reliability, Lingxin on the high-DOF platform, Critical Point on hardware-plus-algorithm solutions, and BrainCo on bionic fusion. None competes head-on with the others.

The real contest has moved up four layers. Hardware ability is the visible battlefield but its lead fades as supply matures. Real physical-operation data is next, because simulation cannot replace live manipulation. Then control strategy and embodied models, where a hand with the same hardware but a better model behaves very differently. Finally ecosystem reach, the ability to plug into many robot bodies. Software-hardware synergy and a data loop are the divider of the next two to three years.

The dexterous hand is the last centimetre of physical contact between a robot and the world. The arrival of a first tier is not the end of the race. It is the moment the field stops showing prototypes and starts shipping tools that earn their keep.
