Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance has launched its first MPVs above the million-yuan price point. The Maextro V680 starts at 648,000 yuan and the V800 at 766,000 yuan. A special “Yunshui Tianqing” design package adds 150,000 yuan, taking the top V800 Navigator edition to 1.166 million yuan.
Yu Chengdong, Huawei’s consumer and smart-car chief, called the vehicles “generation-leading and comprehensively leading” at the launch. Deliveries of the V680 and V800 Pioneer editions begin in early September, with other variants following later in the month.
Luxury hardware and L3-ready architecture
The V800 is 5,495 millimetres long, 2,006 millimetres wide and 1,850 millimetres tall, with a wheelbase of 3,430 millimetres. It uses a closed front end, illuminated badge, vertical lighting and a two-tone body. The interior features a triple-screen dashboard, a 41.6-inch rear projection screen, reclining zero-gravity second-row seats, a roll-out starlight headliner, a private drinks bar and a motorised shoe box with sterilisation.
On safety, the body uses hot-formed steel rated above 2,000 megapascals in critical areas and aviation-grade 7-series aluminium for the bumpers. Huawei claims the 7-series aluminium improves crash protection by about 20 per cent versus the 6-series grade common in the industry. The vehicle has up to 14 airbags and a five-layer door-unlock redundancy system.
The sensor suite includes more than 40 sensors, among them six lidar units. A roof-mounted 896-line dual-optical image-grade lidar handles long-range perception, while a lower-positioned precision lidar covers the near-field blind spot. Side and rear solid-state lidar, high-mount cameras and millimetre-wave radar fill out the coverage.
Yu said the MPVs use an L3-ready enhanced architecture. They will ship with Huawei ADS 5 and upgrade to ADS 6 and the L3-ready version later. The chassis uses an 800-volt full active suspension, steer-by-wire, dual-valve continuous damping control, air suspension and rear-wheel steering. Despite its length, the turning radius is about 5.4 metres.
Powertrain and a second model
The MPVs use a 1.5-litre range-extender and front and rear electric motors producing 160 kilowatts and 230 kilowatts respectively, for a combined 390 kilowatts. A 63.2 kilowatt-hour ternary lithium battery delivers 340 kilometres of CLTC electric range.
Huawei also used the event to open pre-sales of the Stelato G9, a tech-luxury hard-core SUV. Pre-sale prices start at 439,800 yuan. The G9 is 5,377 millimetres long with a 3,160-millimetre wheelbase and will be offered in pure-electric and range-extended versions. It has received a Beijing L3 autonomous-driving test licence for speeds up to 120 kilometres per hour.
