Midea unit breaks ground on a RMB 2 billion precision-reducer base

On 3 September, the JiYa Precision green smart base for robot-core precision parts held its groundbreaking in Beijiao, Shunde. It is the first project built on Foshan’s ‘lease-then-grant’ industrial land, taking only seventeen days from land acquisition to start.

Positioned as a precision-reducer smart-production base, the project covers about 70.71 mu, or 47,138 square metres, with planned floor area of about 55,500 square metres and total investment of 2 billion yuan. On completion it will be a digital base integrating precision machining, automated assembly and precision testing.

The site sits in the core of the Shunde Beijiao Robot Valley manufacturing park, which opened in August and has gathered Kuka, Zhongda Leader, Estun, Zhitong and Lianfeng, forming a full-chain robotics ecosystem from bodies and core parts to controls and applications.

JiYa Precision is a wholly owned subsidiary of Midea Group. Relying on Midea’s precision-manufacturing and central-research strengths, it makes precision reducers including harmonic and RV types, used in industrial robots, humanoids, precision machine tools and automation, and is a core supplier to Kuka.

This year a project by Midea’s Blue Orange Lab, Kuka Robotics Guangdong and JiYa Precision passed appraisal at internationally advanced level, marking comprehensive self-reliance in heavy-load robots from hardware to software. Midea’s robotics and automation revenue reached 16.6 billion yuan in the first half, up 10.27 per cent, with precision-reducer shipments of 26,000 units and heavy-load servo shipments of 58,000 units, both up sharply. The new base will add 300,000 reducers a year in planned capacity.
