On 11 September, Shenzhen hosted the embodied-intelligence sub-event of the second Global Technology Innovation Contest, paired with the sixth Shaoxing “Ten-Thousand-Mu, Hundred-Billion” new-industry platform high-level talent entrepreneurship contest (Shenzhen station) at the Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen). The event set out to use competition as a tool to pull in talent, spur innovation and grow industry, linking quality embodied-AI teams and project resources to real landing space.
The district of Shangyu in Shaoxing used the stage to promote its embodied-AI future-industry pilot zone and cultural-tourism strengths. UBTECH vice-president and head of its embodied-intelligence and humanoid-robot research institute, Jiao Jichao, spoke on “data as the foundation, embodied as the future”. PaXini’s public-affairs director, Huangfu Jing, presented on “full-modal embodied data accelerating intelligence emergence”.
In the roadshow, 15 teams pitched across industrial manufacturing, textiles, elderly-care rehabilitation and industrial inspection. An AI spray-painting robot handles autonomous perception, smart decisions and flexible execution to rebuild spraying digitally. A high-precision dexterous hand uses vision algorithms for in-hand fine manipulation of unknown objects. A black-light factory solution for textiles fuses machine vision, large models and lightweight edge computing across weaving, finishing, quality control and logistics. An industrial-grade quadruped targets power, chemicals and high-end equipment for high-risk inspection, and an end-cloud collaborative human-brain-like project supplies infrastructure between model, compute and body. A walking-assist robot applies vision, multi-sensor perception and gait recognition to rehab mobility.
Shangyu has run precise, full-chain investment across embodied-AI whole machines, components and systems. It has signed 20 embodied-AI projects worth more than RMB 15 billion. Local leaders Wolong, Jingsheng and Zhongxin Fluoride have entered the track, AgiBot’s Shangyu base is under construction, UBTECH has taken a controlling stake in Fenglong to build a national headquarters for general high-dynamic robots, and Taihu’s entertainment-robot and core-parts base is advancing, forming a chain from whole machines to core components to new materials.
Shenzhen, as a reform frontier, holds more than 1,000 AI-application and embodied-AI leaders. A Shangyu official said hosting the Shenzhen station is the district’s way of riding the AI industrialisation wave and absorbing Shenzhen’s innovation momentum, sending an open “hero invitation” to global talent. The event built a platform linking roadshow, tech sharing and industry docking, letting Shenzhen’s AI technology, capital and talent meet Shangyu’s manufacturing base and space.
