Woshi Technology closes multiple rounds in a year as chemical giants back its AI-for-Science infrastructure

Suzhou Woshi Digital Technology says it has closed multiple rounds of financing over the past year. The investors include Sinochem Capital, Haihui Capital, Yiwen Capital, Suzhou Venture Capital, Suzhou New District, Yuanqiao Assets, Hangxin Capital and Demei Chemical, a mix of industrial and financial backers.

The proceeds go to iterating its full-stack AI Scientist models, expanding its structured chemistry database, building a cloud research laboratory, and scaling milligram-to-kilogram unmanned, intelligent and automated experiment platforms toward industry use.

Closing the loop from computation to experiment

Founded in 2021, Woshi is among China’s most complete AI-for-Science companies, integrating structured chemistry data, AI scientific decision-making and automated execution. It built a leading structured chemistry database and a full-stack AI model family covering molecule design, reaction prediction, synthesis-path planning, condition recommendation and experiment decisions, then pushes that into real labs from high-throughput exploration to process optimisation and scale-up.

Traditional chemistry, materials and drug research leans on scientist experience, manual work and scattered data, with long cycles and poor repeatability. Woshi packages data, models, hardware and process knowledge into a deliverable industrial research infrastructure.

From technical loop to paid deployment

The capability is not a demo. Woshi’s AI, data and automation products already serve chemical, new-energy and pharmaceutical leaders in volume, and several Sinochem group subsidiaries use its AI design and automated experimentation, from fine-chemical synthesis to new-material formulation. Sinochem is both investor and deep user, a rare capital-plus-scenario-plus-procurement binding that proves the tech inside real production lines, not just pilot workshops.

Commercial signals are clear: revenue doubled in both 2024 and 2025 and the company broke even in both years, rare in a sector usually marked by high spend, long cycles and no profit yet. Woshi is building a four-layer AI4S infrastructure: a data base, a decision brain in the AI Scientist, its own execution layer of milligram-to-kilogram unmanned labs, and an open cloud-lab service layer.

Sinochem Capital framed AI4S as one of three key AI application directions, moving research from experience-driven to data-and-AI-driven, with the clearest breakthrough value in pharmaceuticals, advanced materials and chemical industry. This is Sinochem Capital’s first strategic move in AI4S, a step toward compressing R&D cycles and cutting experiment cost through intelligent means.

Full-stack ability: database, AI and automated lab as one

Woshi’s self-built structured chemistry database is machine-readable, trainable and traceable, covering molecular structure, reaction rules, conditions, yield, impurities, characterisation and process parameters, breaking the monopoly of overseas chemistry-data platforms with a domestic substitute. Its AI Scientist spans retrosynthesis, feasibility prediction, catalyst-solvent-temperature-ratio recommendations, formulation and active-learning experiment design, and it is pushing these models into autonomous lab execution.
