XTRON closes a several-tens-of-millions-yuan A1 round for explosion-proof robots in hazardous plants

On 1 September, XTRON Robot, a specialist in special-industrial embodied intelligence, announced a several-tens-of-millions-yuan Series A1 round. Investors include Qianhai Ark, Xihu Kechuangtou and Guangyang Shares. The proceeds will fund continued development of the XBOT-AEGIS embodied-intelligence system, R&D on multiple configurations of special-purpose embodied robots, and expansion at home and abroad.

Founded in December 2022, XTRON focuses on hazardous and chemical process industries: oil and gas extraction, chemical production and nuclear-power maintenance. Its founding team comes from the Harbin Institute of Technology, with technical backing from the HIT Robot Research Institute and the Fujian Quanzhou Advanced Manufacturing Technology Research Institute. Founder and chief executive Fu Zhe spent a decade in industry and holds dual bachelor degrees from HIT and Birmingham and dual master degrees from Sheffield and Imperial College London.

XTRON developed the XBOT-AEGIS architecture with a three-layer decoupled design: the top layer handles task understanding and decision making, the middle layer plans and reasons about actions, and the bottom layer acts as a safety redundancy that can intercept abnormal commands from a large model within milliseconds. The split balances the decision layer’s slow thinking against the control layer’s fast response.

On the training side, XTRON is doing three things at once: pulling field data from deployed units and customer operation logs, building an internal simulation platform to supplement real samples with virtual ones, and running a VLA execution model while testing the open-source JEPA world model as a foundation for its own base model.

On that architecture the company plans a standardised line of explosion-proof embodied robots covering inspection, operation and three-dimensional coordination: explosion-proof wheeled and rail-mounted units, inspection-and-operation combos, air-ground integrated robots and explosion-proof wheel-leg bipeds. Since 2025, XTRON has delivered multiple units to leading customers including CNPC and Wanhua Chemical and kept them running steadily.

Overseas, it combines state-owned-enterprise coordination with overseas distributors and has already won project orders in South Sudan and Malaysia. The funding cadence is striking: a several-tens-of-millions-yuan Pre-A from Oriental Fuhai in August 2025, a Pre-A+ in February 2026 with Qianhai Ark, Hangzhou Runmiao, Xihu Kechuangtou and the Futian guidance fund, and this A1 just six months later, with Qianhai Ark and Xihu reinvesting and Guangyang coming in fresh.

A hard but right track

XTRON has built a closed loop of technology validation, benchmark delivery and overseas orders in a domain marked by high safety barriers, rigid labour-substitution demand and clients that can pay. Compared with general-purpose humanoids, it has dug a deeper moat in compliance, industry know-how and customer trust. Rapid repeat financing signals capital’s confidence in both the technology route and the commercial loop, though long order cycles and high customisation will test its ability to scale without losing delivery quality.
