China’s first fully domestic robot ‘nervous system’
On 28 September, a launch event in Yichang, Hubei unveiled what its maker calls the world’s first embodied robot built on a fully domestic electronic architecture. The electronic architecture is the ‘intelligent nervous system’ that sets a machine’s performance ceiling, covering the operating system, network, tool software and AI compute chip.
What Dongtu built
Dongtu Technology’s domestic architecture rests on deterministic computing and deterministic networking. It combines four technologies. The Intewell industrial intelligent operating system carries international functional-safety certifications. AUTBUS is a deterministic bus based on time-sensitive networking that China led as an international standard. The MaVIEW agent tool software and a fully domestic AI processor complete the set. Together they isolate and fuse control with AI compute, building a domestic technology base that runs from AI decision to physical execution and offers a complete alternative to foreign stacks.
Why it matters
Against foreign schemes such as Linux or ROS and CAN or EtherCAT, the domestic architecture is designed to merge industrial protocols, run control and AI inference on one deterministic base, coordinate vision and control at millisecond level with microsecond motion response, and rebuild an endogenous security mechanism. Its direction lines up with the Physical AI concept recently put forward by MIT, pushing intelligence from model output to deterministic physical action.
Testers from a national industrial information security centre subjected robots to joint destruction, network attack and virus implantation. Traditional-architecture robots showed line failure, instant shutdown and loss of control, while Dongtu’s domestic-architecture robot passed the harsh safety tests and stayed secure.
