Magna Sold 4 Per Cent Less and Earned 11 Per Cent More

Magna reported third quarter 2026 results on 2 November with sales of USD 10.1bn, down 4 per cent year on year, and adjusted EBIT of USD 683m, up 11 per cent. The margin expansion came while revenue was contracting, which is the harder version of the exercise.

The company attributed the profit line to cost control, operational efficiency and a shift in product mix, and said execution and operating improvements lifted both profitability and cash generation.

Guidance held

Magna kept its full year 2026 sales outlook at USD 41.2bn to 42.0bn, raised its free cash flow expectation and expressed confidence in hitting its adjusted earnings per share target.

The quarter is a useful read on the wider supplier base. End demand is uneven, price competition is persistent, and the returns from supply chain and operating cost work are still being realised. Whether the group converts the full year guidance into a second consecutive year of margin repair is the test for the fourth quarter.
