Huawei’s Qiankun driving system is entering a new growth phase. From January 2022 to August 2025 it passed one million equipped vehicles in 44 months; the second million should land by late July or early August 2026, in about 12. Huawei stays on multi-sensor fusion, recently shipping distributed millimetre-wave radar, high-resolution solid-state lidar, a lidar-vision unit called Limera, and an 896-line dual-path lidar. Beyond perception, Qiankun moves to the WEWA architecture, a cloud world engine plus an on-vehicle world-action model. A world model also synthesises rare edge-case training data, turning one tricky scene, like a two-wheeler emerging from behind a truck, into dozens of variants.
Acting and surviving
On-vehicle, the WA model adds risk-field-based defensive driving, cutting collision risk by 50 per cent. Huawei fuses ADS with XMC for chassis-level control, and launches Qiankun OS with full-link redundancy, claiming 20x reliability gains for the L3 era. ADS V5.0 ships in July, with OTA updates through 2027 promising the largest urban-navigation upgrade yet.
