Canchen builds AI virtual-organ digital twins

Canchen Technology has completed a seed, angel and angel-plus series of rounds totalling tens of millions of yuan, with backers including Oriental Fortune, Songhe Capital and several university and government-linked funds. The firm builds system-level virtual-organ spatio-temporal dynamic evolution models, a full-scale simulation platform from molecule and cell through tissue to organ, using AI digital twins to replace part of traditional animal testing for preclinical drug evaluation and early disease screening.

The regulatory wind shifted in its favour. In July 2026 China’s drug regulator, the CDE, issued a draft pilot that for the first time folds AI virtual-organ digital twins into the non-clinical evidence system for medicines. The US FDA, Europe’s EMA and the UK’s MHRA had already signalled openness. An investor notes Canchen’s edge is not only the simulation tech but a closed loop linking simulation, wet-lab work and clinical front-validation, with risk predictions continuously cross-checked against in-vivo models and partner hospitals.

A causal, not a parametric, model

Canchen layers its tech in three tiers: a multi-omics life foundation model at the base, digital twins of core organs such as brain, gut and liver in the middle, and multi-organ whole-lifecycle reasoning on top. Rather than piling up parameters, it models with dynamical systems and biological constraints, so it answers not only what but what-if. The core team has built mammalian embryo full-cycle 3D dynamic models and published landmark results in Cell.

The firm has stood up China’s first virtual-organ training-data platform, a national smart-compute centre in the southwest, and clinical-validation scenes with top-tier hospitals, targeting early screening of neonatal developmental disease. The pitch is a domestic virtual-life simulation stack, from data to clinic.
