On 28 July, the Cyberspace Administration of China, together with the cyberspace offices of Beijing, Shanghai, Zhejiang and Shenzhen and five leading large-model firms, launched the AI Large-Model IPv6 Capability Enhancement Initiative in Xiong’an.
The goal is to push generative large-model applications to fully support IPv6, laying the network foundation for the intelligent era. As token traffic from AI models explodes, IPv6’s address space, efficient routing and native security make it the substrate those workloads need.
Shenzhen’s inclusion is the signal: the city is being treated as a front-line AI jurisdiction, not just a hardware base. For a country racing to put models into production, the plumbing underneath the models is now a policy priority.
