Weifen Zhifei closes several-hundred-million yuan A2 round as capital flows into aerial embodied intelligence

On 7 September, Gasgoo’s embodied-intelligence channel learned that Weifen Zhifei, a Hangzhou company, has closed an A2 round of several hundred million yuan, led by Puhua Capital, with Huihui Fund and the Yangtze River Delta Digital-Culture Fund following, and earlier backers Five YSource, Shenzhen Capital, Hongtai, Huaying, Huakong, Changshi and Baidu Ventures adding. Proceeds go to R&D, iteration, hiring and industry expansion.

Weifen Zhifei was founded in July 2024. Founder Gao Fei is a tenured associate professor at Zhejiang University’s College of Control Science, long focused on aerial robots, autonomous navigation, embodied intelligence and swarm coordination. In 2025 the company did back-to-back Pre-A and Pre-A plus rounds near 200 million yuan. Multiple rounds in two years show capital flowing from ground robots further into the air.

Unlike traditional drones that emphasise flight control or single tasks, Weifen Zhifei folds environment perception, task understanding, path planning, action decisions and flight control into one model, and extends multi-machine coordination. Its products target GPS-less, weak-signal, low-light environments and already reach emergency, mining and power scenarios.

Zhejiang University records show Gao Fei’s team published autonomous aerial-robot stunt-flight research in Science Robotics in 2025, completing complex manoeuvres without external localisation.

Still, the gap to scaled commercial return remains. Emergency, mining and power have clear demand but strong project attributes and high bars on reliability, cost and delivery. What Weifen Zhifei must next prove is not that the robot flies itself in extreme settings, but that it can turn technical edge into standard product, recurring orders and a replicable commercial loop.
