Xiaomi-backed Suzhou maglev firm Zongwei doubles down on robot joints with a RMB 200 million round

Robot Forward reported on 9 September that Suzhou maglev company Zongwei Technology has closed a RMB 200 million Pre-C-plus-plus round, led by Matrix Partners China, with Shunwei Capital, BlueRun Ventures and Shengbao Capital following as existing shareholders.

Founded in 2020, Zongwei says it has landed more than 2,000 projects, delivered maglev transport systems exceeding 90,000 metres in cumulative length, and reached more than 16 countries and regions across new energy, consumer electronics, AI infrastructure, automotive, semiconductors and medical industries.

Its 2025 order volume grew more than 400 per cent year on year. This year it pushed its intelligent maglev motion platform toward embodied intelligence, co-developing flexible manufacturing stations that pair maglev transport with robotic systems.

From transport lines to robot joints

Zongwei’s core product is the sTrak intelligent maglev transport range. The sTrak-X joint platform acts as a flexible scheduling system with X-axis shuttle modules, giving robotic equipment efficient material flow inside complex three-dimensional space. The firm has stretched its portfolio into joint motors and special motors for humanoids, heavy-load exoskeletons and collaborative arms, promising high torque density, high-precision servo control and a wide power band.

At WAIC it first showed robot joint modules and frameless torque motors. The joint modules span a rated torque of 1.5 Nm to 120 Nm, with peak torque up to 450 Nm; the D96 by H50 series reaches 81 Nm per kilogram of torque density. All joint modules carry 24-bit absolute encoders, some with 24-bit dual encoders, and 9.67-to-1 or 26.7-to-1 reduction to hold micron-level pose control under frequent interaction.

The frameless torque motor range runs from 25 mm to 115 mm outside diameter, with F-class insulation, a 48 V DC platform and top speed up to 11,000 rpm. At WAIC, Zongwei and a strategic partner also debuted a robot-plus-maglev production line, using lithium battery module PACK process as the first engineering validation scene.

Founder Lu Hongxing holds a master’s in mechanical engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and came up through manufacturing. Corporate records show prior backers including BYD, Huaye Tiancheng, Innovation Works and the Suzhou park science-and-technology fund, a lineup that explains the Xiaomi connection through Shunwei.
