One Aluminium Box Replaced Eleven Parts. It Just Passed a Million Units

The one-millionth 11-in-1 integrated powertrain domain drive system rolled off the line at Grebor’s Xuzhou plant, the company said.

The system integrates the drive motor, motor controller, reducer and on-board charger, along with seven other core components, inside a single housing. It combines high integration with low weight and a low centre of gravity, and can be adapted to battery-electric, plug-in hybrid and range-extended vehicle platforms, shortening development cycles and cutting manufacturing cost for carmakers.

What integration costs

Eleven-in-one design also means the motor and the power module have to be cooled together, and the two systems do not want the same temperature. The same hardware calibrated differently produces noticeably different driving characteristics, so each step requires capability built from scratch rather than purchased.

The production ramp shows how fast the format was accepted. The product entered production in 2024 with about 8,000 units in the first month, rising to 15,000 in the second. In the second half of 2026 monthly deliveries have passed 60,000.

Exports now reach more than 30 countries and regions, with monthly overseas shipments rising from 15,000 at the start to more than 30,000 as capacity came online.

Vertical integration as the quality argument

At the manufacturing level, the Xuzhou plant has built lean production and intelligent manufacturing systems benchmarked against advanced industry practice, using a quality assurance matrix to close error-proofing loops and intercept defects. Key processes run 100 per cent optical inspection, and every finished unit is functionally verified before dispatch.

Power modules, PCBA and stator and rotor assemblies are produced in-house, which the company presents as the source of consistency and reliability. Annual output at the plant is moving towards the million-unit scale.

Grebor says it will continue its global strategy, consolidating at home while expanding overseas, with product quality and delivery stability as the long-term focus.

For European tier-one suppliers the format is the message. When an 11-in-1 unit reaches a million units at 60,000 a month, the individual components it replaced stop being separate commercial markets, and the suppliers of those components lose the conversation.
