Top 20 brands by monthly sales, China-badged brands highlighted in teal. (RobotBelt Monthly Auto Tracker — Thailand, 2026-06)

2. Three Signals

Signal 1

  • Fact: Chinese brands took 31.0% of Thailand’s auto market in June 2026 (26.2% excluding MG).
  • Read: Toyota, Honda and Isuzu still hold the podium, but the Chinese block is now the clear force from rank four down.

Signal 2

  • Fact: BYD was the best-selling Chinese name at 4,824 units (rank 4), ahead of MG at 3,026.
  • Read: BYD’s lead is widening in the electrified passenger segment where Thai buyers are switching fastest.

Signal 3

  • Fact: Geely (with Zeekr) reached 2,812 units and Chery 2,368, both inside the top eight.
  • Read: The second tier is no longer just BYD and MG. The field is crowding at the top.

3. The Take

Chinese carmakers are no longer knocking on Thailand’s door. They are inside, and they are rearranging the furniture. June 2026 put the China block at 31.0% of the auto market (26.2% without MG). That is not a trend line you watch from a distance. That is a new normal with the paint still wet.

Toyota, Honda and Isuzu still hold the podium, and anyone counting only the top three will miss the story. Look at ranks four through eight. BYD leads the Chinese charge at 4,824 units. MG follows at 3,026. Geely (with Zeekr) and Chery and Changan all sit in the top eight. The Japanese own the truck-and-heartland loyalty. The Chinese own the switch that is happening right now in electrified passenger cars.

The danger for the incumbents is not one bad month. It is the bench. Five years ago a Chinese brand in Thailand meant one nameplate and a footnote. Today it means a stacked portfolio (BYD, MG, Geely, Chery, Changan, GAC) each with a model ladder and a price curve the locals cannot match. Thailand was the proving ground. The same playbook is now shipping to Australia and the UK.

Watch the EV mix, not just the total. When the Chinese share is this high and still rising, the question is no longer if they win Thailand. It is how fast the rest of Southeast Asia follows.
