Zhejiang breaks ground on a digital factory set to build 5,000 smart-logistics robots a year

Qingtian Lituo Robotics, a unit of Mingguang Lituo Intelligent Technology, has broken ground on a project in Qingtian, Zhejiang. Planned across 40 mu, the site will be a digital factory for 5,000 smart-logistics robots a year, building AGV transport robots, smart-warehouse systems and software, aimed at the intelligent upgrade of Yangtze River Delta manufacturers. Completion is expected in 2027.

The parent, founded in August 2018, is a national ‘little giant’ in smart manufacturing and digital transformation, with partners including Siemens, Fanuc, Yaskawa, KUKA, Hikvision, Schneider, Emerson, Geely, Great Wall, BYD, Midea and Haier. Its robots perform precise jobs such as embedded-nut insertion, vision-guided loading, engine-head bolting and auto-glue, replacing manual steps and enabling full-line automation.

AI vision that pays back

For auto-parts inspection, Lituo built a dual-station AI vision system that cut defect rates by 30 per cent, manual inspection cost by 40 per cent, delivery time by 20 per cent and equipment failure rate by 22 per cent. Its latent and fork AGVs use SLAM laser navigation with fast deploy, self-check, interface expansion, auto-charging and 360-degree safety, running 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Smart logistics robots are a coreenabler of industrial automation and smart factories. QYResearch forecasts the global logistics-robot market will reach US$32.02 billion by 2031 at a 20.1 per cent compound annual growth rate, a tailwind for capable suppliers as manufacturers chase lower cost and higher efficiency.
