A 1.2 billion yuan bet on trackless robots for China’s chip fabs

Jieluo Intelligent Equipment (Suzhou) has broken ground on a headquarters project in Suzhou’s Wuzhong district, a 1.2 billion yuan bet on the robots that move wafers around the world’s cleanest factories. The site covers 42.5 mu and about 70,000 square metres, and is designed to build 2,000 trackless-navigation robots (AMRs) and 500 wafer-intelligent-storage systems a year, with projected annual output of 2.5 billion yuan.

A semiconductor ‘little giant’

Jieluo is a nationally recognised ‘little giant’ in semiconductor smart equipment. Rooted in Wuzhong since 2020, it focuses on full-stack self-developed semiconductor AMHS solutions, smart mobile robots and Industry 4.0 IoT systems. It serves roughly 70 per cent of the world’s top semiconductor chip firms and has deployed at scale in domestic wafer fabrication and advanced packaging lines. Backers include Hefei JianTou Capital, Shenzhen Capital Group, Huixin Investment, SAIF Partners and Wuzhong state-owned funds.

With a founding team steeped in the semiconductor industry, Jieluo builds algorithms, software and hardware in house, runs a 10,000 square metre plant rated to ISO Class 1 cleanliness, and claims a 100 per cent customer repurchase rate with zero failed projects.

The numbers that matter

In one AI-enabled wafer-handling scenario, Jieluo’s solution cuts single-shift labour by 86.7 per cent, moves three times the daily volume of a human, lifts cross-workshop throughput 75 per cent, shortens the production cycle 15 per cent and speeds new-line deployment by over 90 per cent. It eliminates manual-handling risk entirely, drops wafer damage to zero, lifts core yield to 99.5 per cent and has run 1,200 days without a safety incident, holding cleanroom compliance at 100 per cent.

The company launched more than ten wafer-handling AMR models and a product matrix spanning wafer libraries and overhead transport systems. In 2025 its sales doubled and net profit reached 45 to 50 million yuan; 2026 orders have already passed one and a half times the full-year 2025 total.

Why the timing is right

WSTS projects the global semiconductor market will reach about 1.5 trillion dollars in 2026, up roughly 90 per cent on 2025, a fresh record. As processes grow more precise and intelligent, traditional manual handling and ordinary industrial equipment no longer meet the strict demands of high-end wafer manufacturing and advanced packaging. YHResearch puts the 2024 global semiconductor-robot market at 11.56 billion yuan, rising to 17.04 billion by 2031, a 6.0 per cent compound rate. Semiconductor-specific robots, built for ultra-clean, high-precision, low-dust and corrosion-resistant duty, are becoming the obvious fix.
