On August 5, Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility (HIMA) launched its first two flagship MPVs under the Zunjie brand, the V680 and V800, the first time the alliance has pushed a product into the million-yuan MPV class. Four versions span 648,000 to 1.016 million yuan, and a 150,000 yuan ‘Yun Shui Tian Qing’ custom theme lifts the top V800 to 1.166 million yuan, breaking the local price ceiling for the category.
Richard Yu, Huawei’s executive director, called it a ‘generation-leading and comprehensively leading’ product. Unlike earlier HIMA launches built around driving, cockpit and chassis, this pair devotes most of its airtime to luxury: two-tone paint, full-colour interactive lighting, a retractable starry roof, a private drinks bar, an electric shoe cabinet and privacy glass. It is HIMA’s second strike on the traditional super-luxury market after the Zunjie S800, and its first attempt to meet Lexus LM and Toyota Alphard head-on with ‘Huawei tech plus Chinese luxury’.
Where the technology actually shows
The V800 is the star at 5495 mm long with a 3430 mm wheelbase, against the V680’s 5320 mm and 3290 mm. High trims carry dual million-pixel projection headlights and a full-colour interactive taillight. Safety is the other headline: over 2000 MPa hot-formed steel, aviation-grade 7-series aluminium (an industry first for an MPV, adding about 20 per cent to crash-beam strength), up to 14 airbags, a five-layer door-unlock redundancy, and more than 40 sensors including six LiDAR units, one an 896-line rooftop unit with self-cleaning. Yu says it is the first system to unify control of drive, brake and steering inside assisted driving.
Deliveries of the pioneer versions start in early September, with broader volume rollout by month end. The move matters less for the units it will sell than for what it signals: Huawei is using its software-defined cockpit and sensor suite to redefine what a luxury MPV is, targeting the German and Japanese premium names on their home turf of comfort and status.
