How the lead was built

The share is the product of a complete high-end equipment chain. The core parts a robot needs, 3D vision, precision reducers, servo motors and control systems, all have mature domestic suppliers with high efficiency, fast iteration and low production cost. On the demand side, an ageing population and rising manufacturing wages make labour substitution in inspection, handling and assembly a structural need, giving local robots a deep pool of trial-and-error scenarios.

From showcases to cash

Quadruped leader Unitree has filed for the STAR market, with first-half revenue guided above 1.05 billion yuan, up 35 to 46 per cent, a result that breaks the old ‘robots only burn cash’ narrative. As the flagship earns and lists, orders flow up to component makers, driving a positive loop of technology upgrade, cost decline, scene expansion and renewed demand. The listing also validates the commercial path that overseas giants such as Tesla have been demonstrating.

The caveats

The industry is still early. Most humanoids remain in small-batch delivery and scenario pilots, and cost, stability and intelligence are unsolved hurdles. Rapid technical iteration raises the risk of being left behind, and the sector’s valuation is hot after the rally. The long-term trend is clear, but the short-term pop is sentiment, and durable gains will need real orders, revenue and profit to land.
