A Wanliyang Unit Passed Automotive-Grade Audits, and Its Joint-Module Line Is Now in Volume Production

On 29 September, Zhejiang Wanliyang Robot Technology, a unit of transmission maker Wanliyang, said it had passed a core customer’s PPAP audit conducted under the automotive VDA6.3 standard, so its first joint module production line is now in volume production.

Clearing the audit means the firm’s R and D, process, manufacturing, quality control and supply chain have all met the customer’s mass production requirements, earning formal batch delivery qualification.

The joint module line integrates motor, drive, reducer and module assembly in one flexible line, using a U shaped layout that supports multiple products on one line, with line balance above 80 per cent and quick changeover under 15 minutes. An MES system ties machining, inspection, tightening, pressing and testing data to each product for traceability and error proofing.

Quality control folds in pressure displacement, torque angle and scan monitoring, plus online inspection, end of line performance testing, noise testing and type testing. The line also uses advanced methods such as split flat and continuous winding, circular welding, automatic thermal fit and whole potting.

The base sits in Jinhua, in a 2,250 square metre first phase with annual capacity of 100,000 units, supported by labs and precision inspection rooms built to 100,000 class clean standards with constant temperature and humidity. The centre has motor test rigs, dynamometers and combined temperature humidity vibration rigs.

On products, Wanliyang Robot has a platform series spanning planetary modules, harmonic modules, motor controllers, brushless DC motors and reducers, with diameters from 30 to 150 millimetres, torque from 0.5 to 450 Nm, dual absolute encoders, absolute accuracy to 0.1 degree and life over 10,000 hours. They fit biped humanoids, quadrupeds, wheeled robots and industrial robots.
